What are the benefit of Full Merino Woven Wool?

  • Cool in the summer, warm in the winter
  • Absorbs moisture
  • Shock/Weight absorbing
  • Soft – Comfortable for the horse.

Our Merino Wool is also Cruelty Free and easy to wash.

How is it made and why?

  • Merino lambs are sheared, and then the wool is needled onto a fabric backing.
  • The wool quality, length, and density are more consistent than Merino wool on a natural hide.
  • The longevity of Woven Wool is superior to Merino Wool on a hide.
  • Sheep are not harmed in the making of this pad.
  • With Woven Wool, machine washing is simple.

Construction

  • Two panels of ThinLine Protection.
  • Opening under panels for shimming needs.
  • Wither profile and contoured spine.
  • A full panel of 100% natural, medical-grade sheepskin woven onto a synthetic hide, against your horse.
  • Covering the Merino synthetic hide, a high-grade cotton pad with a light wool fill.
  • ThinLine wear leathers.

Riders will sit closer, and quieter, and horses will move with a much more relaxed back.  ThinLine is all about helping horses and riders achieve relaxation, suppleness, and communication. How do you add Saddle Fitting Shims?

Medical Grade Sheepskin Wash Instructions

Our products come with a full-year warranty provided they are cared for as directed.

Regular maintenance: Dry between rides. Place the pad wool side up in a cool environment, in humid climates use a fan to blow over the pad. Once the pad is dry, lightly brush it with a pet brush to help to keep the wool fluffy and resilient for the next ride.

Washing and drying: Sheepskin saddle pads are best washed by hand in cold water. Use a soap designed for sheepskin to keep your pad under warranty. You may machine wash (although hand wash is preferred) in a front loader, no agitators against the ThinLine panels, gentle wash cycle, cold. Remove excess water in the pad by squeezing the water out or placing in your washing machine on the spin cycle.

Fill washing machine (or bathtub for really large items) with water, then add a sheepskin soap. Soak for 1 hour squeezing soap and water through item from time to time. If the item is really dirty you may need to repeat the process. Squeeze or use the spin cycle to remove excess water and lay over a rack or rail to dry with sheepskin facing up. Keep out of the sun, and away from direct heat and dryers. Please do not brush or pull sheepskin fibers when wet. To prevent shrinkage, gently stretch the hide while drying.

Full Sheepskin Pads may take 2-3 days to dry. Sheepskin trimmed items should be good to go in a day. The ThinLine shim may slow drying time, we recommend placing absorbent products such as paper towels or chamois cloths inside the pocket.

When the care instructions are followed properly, our sheepskin pads are proving to have an expected 4-5 years of use.

What is ThinLine?

ThinLine is a thin, shock-absorbing non-slip breathable foam.

  • Impact (shock) absorbency of over 95%
  • Carrying Capacity – it is the only equestrian product that distributes rider weight across the pad
  • Non compressing – It never bottoms out, moves or degrades.
  • Breathable
  • Non-Slip
  • It is the only saddle pad endorsed by spinal surgeons, master saddlers, and veterinarians for back health in horses and humans.

You will feel all the sensations of your horses’ back muscles while enjoying the shock absorption and non-slip features of the trademark ThinLine foam. Balance, comfort, and security can all be yours in our saddle pads. You will find yourself sitting correctly, developing great core strength while enjoying a close but quiet communication with your horse. Equines love ThinLine – they feel unified with their rider. So go ahead, it is time to have the ride of your life.

How do I know ThinLine is delivering the comfort and protection my horse needs?

Once you receive your ThinLine pad, ride in it for at least a week.  At first, you may simply notice things like; “my horse was great today, my seat and aids were soft and effective”, great job! you are on your way.  You will see daily improvement. But, this can be a bit subtle in the beginning.

How to check out your pad’s effectiveness.  After at least a week of riding daily, begin your warm-up with the ThinLine.  Once you are warmed up, remove the ThinLine and ride.  This is when you will see just how much your horse is loving their saddle pad

Laura Taylor Vaughn just received this from the office….”It matter not which pad they choose. All ThinLine products help with kissing spine. If they would like the best for the horse, we would recommend #7023 English and #3334 Full Sheepskin with Ultra ThinLine panels. Attached, please find the image of the TL stand at 3-H Veterinary, one of the Vets who works to help all sports injuries and issues with kissing spine.”

Lisa Haaparanta: I have been using mine for the last few weeks on my 5 yr old mare. I absolutely LOVE it!!! She’s sensitive but is so comfortable with the pad that training is progressing quite smoothly. I’ve used it on my 10yr old AQHA mare who is arthritic through her shoulders and she is so free in the shoulders when I use it she may just be able to head back to the show pen again!! Will definitely be buying another!!

Karena Horton Crews: We bought a Thinline for our 8 year old daughter’s quarter horse. He has sensitive withers due to scar tissue from much earlier in his life. We also had a terrible issue with her saddle leaning and slipping ….nothing we tried worked. The Thinline made an immediate difference and we were able to add shims exactly where they were needed. Her Thinline made all the difference in the world for both she and her horse!!! Worth every penny!

Love this pad and so does my horse with kissing spine. I had to shim it to accommodate high withers but then works perfect.

This saddle pad is awesome! The fleece pile is great for cushioning and the thinline has incredible shock absorption. I live in South Louisiana and in the summer time it does take some time to dry. To combat this I have a small fan I point on the underside of the pad. Even in the most humid weather and the sweatiest pad, it is dry by the next day. I lightly run my hand or a brush over the fleece before I saddle and it fluffs right back up. My horses enjoy this pad as much as I do.

Love this pad. It was recommended by the saddle expert from which I purchased my saddle may years ago. Like the look, materials and durability. I am on my third pad but they all gave me several years of use. Very satisfied with this product.

I heard about this pad on FB, my horse recently had a back injury, I ordered this pad ,Western 32 x 32, and used it at a show. Fit was perfect, he wasn’t sore and was able to move fluidly. Would definitely recommend and will purchase again.
