What is ThinLine?
ThinLine is a thin, shock absorbing non slip breathable foam.
The only equine product endorsed by surgeons, master saddlers, riders and veterinarians.
Where is the ThinLine?
It is sewn onto the panel of all our saddle pads.
Western Felt Saddle Pad, the Pro-Tech.
To be a better-balanced rider with a more responsive, sounder horse try ThinLine.
So how does a 3/16” thick pad of ThinLine stitched onto a 1/2” thick, wool felt pad make you a better-balanced rider and your horse more responsive and sounder? In a few ways…
The thin, Pro-Tech Felt Saddle Pad provides more shock absorption than a 2-inch thick felt pad. ThinLine eliminates pressure points. The needled wool felt pad is soft and flexible, allowing it to fit neatly and comfortably against your horses’ natural confirmation. Without all that material between you and your horse you can feel each other, but all without the extra movement and “dead” feel of thick pads and gel pads.
For the horse.
This felt saddle pad has a wither-relief cutout which is best for moderate to low or mutton withered horses and a spine-free channel, further reducing the chance of pressure points. Comfort for the horse is improved even with saddles which are perfectly fitted. The ThinLine also ventilates, across the pad, allowing excess heat to move out from under the saddle. Most important, to your horse, is how these pads create stability. Stability creates freedom.
For the rider.
The Pro-Tech saddle pad’s slim design puts you in closer contact with your horse, so your leg can easily drape giving you a seamless feel of his sides. You’ll notice his back moving more, but with the extraordinary shock absorption of ThinLine, you will be moving in unison with your mount. The ThinLine layer sewn onto the pad has a 95% shock absorption rate that spreads impact LATERALLY along the pad. The motion you feel under you as you ride is absorbed by the ThinLine and transferred ACROSS the pad instead of UP into your spine. This shock absorption benefit is being enjoyed by your horse as well.
With the reduced movement of your seat, your balance is easier to keep so “staying” with your horse, even during quick stops and starts, becomes second nature. You sit quieter, and he responds with a relaxed, softback, and freer strides.
How do I know ThinLine is delivering the comfort and protection my horse needs?
Once you receive your Western felt saddle pad, ride in it for at least a week. At first, you may simply notice things like; “my horse was great today, my seat and aids were soft and effective”, great job! you are on your way. You will see daily improvement. But, this can be a bit subtle in the beginning. How to check out your pads effectiveness. After at least a week of riding daily, begin your warm-up with the ThinLine. After warm up, remove the ThinLine and ride. This is when you will see just how much your horse is loving his felt saddle pad.

Felt Saddle Pad Care Instructions
Our felt saddle pads have a high percentage of wool content. To avoid shrinkage, do not use hot water to clean, or heat to dry. Occasionally brush your pad with a curry brush. This will dislodge hair, dirt, and sweat to prolong the usefulness of your pad. Wool pads can be washed by scrubbing the dirty spots with a cloth or sponge, using cold water and a small amount of mild liquid wool-washing soap (We recommend EZ All). Hose all the soap off with clean water and allow the pad to air dry in a well-ventilated area. As you’re hosing, be sure to direct the spay from the center outward toward the edges, so that dirt, sweat, and hair is moved off of the pad and instead of being pushed into the pad.
A Thank you for your question! This pad is great for horses with low to no withers due to its more traditional, straighter topline. If your horse has typical to high withers, they would likely go better in one of our pads with a contoured topline and built-in lift at the wither. Every saddle fit situation is different, but most downhill horses can benefit from adding front shims to this pad. When in doubt, we always recommend working with a qualified saddle fitter and would be glad to help you locate one in your area! Please call the office for further help. 888-401-9101.
A Thank you for your question! All of our shimmable pads are constructed with Ultra
Thinline panels, which by nature are very grippy and nonslip, in addition to providing excellent shock absorption and back protection. Most riders find that the panels do a great job of keeping everything in place. This particular pad, with its straighter topline and wither relief key hole cut out, works very well for horses with little to no withers and broad backs. Please feel free to give us a call at 888-401-9101 for further help selecting a pad.
A Thank you for your question! The Pro-Tech Felt Pad is a beautiful brown, top quality felt with brown Ultra ThinLine panels and the Premium Pro-Tech Felt Pad is made of the highest quality gray felt with black Ultra ThinLine panels. If you're looking for more variety, the Western Contour Ranch pad is available in 18 different colors!
A Thank you for your question! We aren't able to customize this pad, but we do have other pads that would be a good fit. The Contour Ranch pad comes in 32x30 and 18 colors. The Full Sheepskin Comfort pad measures 31.5" and our Western Felt Liner is 32". Please check the links below and give us a call if you have any other questions! 888-401-9101
A Thanks for your question! For this style pad, the small size refers to the smaller, rounded skirt. They both have the same overall length (28.5"), however the medium has a bit more of a cutback at the withers, so the spine measurement makes it look smaller on paper.
