Flexible Filly Muzzle Muzzle Material Data Sheet

The Flexible Filly Muzzle material is a resin-based Polyether Urethane Film.

Resin is a solid or highly viscous substance of plant or synthetic origin that is typically convertible into polymers.

Plants secrete resins for their protective benefits in response to injury or insects. The resin protects the plant and helps it to heal.

Synthetic resins are not a product secreted by plants, although it was ultimately derived from plants.  The Flexible Filly Muzzle is a synthetic resin.

A history of Resins. Human use of plant resins has a very long history, especially in the resins known as frankincense and myrrh. These were highly prized substances and required as incense in some religious rites.

Synthetic and plant resins are safe for use on all animals, including humans.  Since it was created by plants as a “protective shield” it offers many benefits to the skin, the UV protection is one of our favorite features.

The Flexible Filly Muzzle is not recyclable but is also not detrimental to the environment, except that it does not degrade rapidly, which of course simply adds to product durability.

My farrier is concerned my horse may develop or is developing IR and recommend a dry lot or grazing muzzle. Dry lot isn't an option. She is in a field 24/7 and would need to wear it 24/7. Is the restricted size or full size a better option?

Truly it depends on the intake you wish your horse to have. The best part of the Flexible Filly is if you find the restrictive hole too small you can cut it larger!

  5. Q my horse is eating through the sides instead of the hole, is there something I can do to fix that? answer now
A Thank you for your question! If your horse is eating out of the side of the muzzle, try the following: Lower the noseband of the halter Raise the muzzle so that it is fitted using the holes closer to the center of the muzzle It's ok for the muzzle to be very close to your horse's lips when fitting it with their head raised. When their heads are down while grazing, the muzzle will drop away from the lips, creating more space. Be sure that the front and back fins are attached using the same holes and that the side fins are attached 2, even 3 holes shorter. Please give us a call at 888-401-9101 or send in pictures to [email protected] if you'd like us to help further!
  6. Is there some kind of adjustment I need to make so that my horse can't eat out of the sides between the wings? I thought it might be the halter which was too loose and got a smaller one that fits well, but he is still doing it.
