Description

ThinLine Full Sheepskin Trifecta Half Pad

What is Merino Woven Wool?

It has all the benefits of Merino sheepskin on the hide:
Soft
Cool in the summer, warm in the winter
Wicks moisture
Absorbs shock and pressure

With this added feature:

  • No natural hide!

How is it made and why?

  • Merino lambs are sheared, and then the wool is needled onto a fabric backing.
  • The wool quality, length, and density are more consistent than Merino wool on a natural hide.
  • The longevity of Woven Wool is superior to Merino Wool on a hide.
  • Sheep are not harmed in the making of this pad.
  • With Woven Wool, machine washing is simple.

Sheepskin Half Pad Construction

  • Two Panels of ThinLine
  • Raised wither profile to accommodate more top lines.
  • Heavy Duty Cotton base –   cotton with a dense weave and light wool fill.
  • Durable Billet Straps
  • Pocket under ThinLine for adding saddle fitting shims
  • Dense premium Merino wool needled onto a synthetic hide.
  • Spine channel.  Our Merino sheepskin is sheared shorter in the center of the pad creating a spine-free center band.

What is ThinLine?

ThinLine is a thin, shock-absorbing non-slip breathable foam. The only product endorsed by surgeons, master saddlers, riders, and veterinarians.

Where is the ThinLine?

It is the open-cell foam on the top of our half pads.

“The manner in which ThinLine absorbs motion encourages horses to lift their backs, developing strength and top-line.  It has been endorsed by Veterinarians, for horses, as well as Spinal Surgeons for riders. It is a top pick for Master Saddlers around the world. Equine Chiropractors and Massage Therapists carry it on their trucks to keep horses going strong, supple, and relaxed.  Trainers and riders find it a trusted product to improve rider equitation.

The dual benefit of extraordinary shock absorption and rider motion reduction sets ThinLine apart from other saddle pads.

Medical Grade Sheepskin Wash Instructions

Our products come with a full-year warranty provided they are cared for as directed.

Regular maintenance: Dry between rides. Place the pad sheepskin face up in a cool environment, in humid climates use a fan to blow over the pad. Once the pad is dry, lightly brush it with a pet brush to help to keep the wool fluffy and resilient for the next ride.

Washing and drying: Sheepskin saddle pads are best washed by hand in cold water. Use a soap designed for sheepskin to keep your pad under warranty. You may machine wash (although hand wash is preferred) in a front loader, no agitators against the ThinLine panels, gentle wash cycle, cold. Remove excess water in the pad by squeezing the water out or placing in your washing machine on the spin cycle.

Fill washing machine (or bathtub for really large items) with water, then add a sheepskin soap. Soak for 1 hour squeezing soap and water through item from time to time. If the item is really dirty you may need to repeat the process. Squeeze or use the spin cycle to remove excess water and lay over a rack or rail to dry with sheepskin facing up. Keep out of the sun, and away from direct heat and dryers. Please do not brush or pull sheepskin fibers when wet. To prevent shrinkage, gently stretch the hide while drying.

Full Sheepskin Pads may take 2-3 days to dry. Sheepskin trimmed items should be good to go in a day. The ThinLine shim may slow drying time, we recommend placing absorbent products such as paper towels or chamois cloths inside the pocket.

On white pads you may use Scotch Guard to the rolls to keep them clean and extend washing cycles.

When the care instructions are followed properly, our sheepskin pads are proving to have an expected 4-5 years of use.

I have this pad and love love love it. It provides great protection and easy to use with any saddle pad. I still have good feel when riding and the shims are easy to get in and out. Washes wonderfully, does take extra time to dry, but worth the effort.

Beautiful pad! I have several Thin Line pads for various purposes. I love the technology and wouldn’t use anything else on my horses. This pad I use specifically for showing. It’s beautiful and functional. I would not ride any of my horses in anything else!

Have used this pad for a few years. Just purchased my second one. Made a noticeable difference in my horse…by using the right shoulder shim it corrected my seat and allowed him better balance and movement. Gave my old pad to a friend and she put in to good use with a new saddle.

How do you clean the sheepskin pad? Can this pad be used alone without a regular pad?
  1. Q How do you clean the sheepskin pad? Can this pad be used alone without a regular pad? answer now
    A

Thanks for your question! The sheepskin pads can be hand or machine-washed (delicate cycle) cold and then hung to air dry. Please be sure to use a detergent formulated for wool. Once it's dry, use a brush to lightly fluff the wool.

Using this half pad with or without a base pad is really a personal choice. A lot of riders feel that having sheepskin directly on their horse's back takes the best advantage of the textile's benefits. Other than having to wash it more frequently and maybe adding to the wear and tear, the only other things to note are ensuring appropriate coverage under your saddle and possibly needing to clean the underside of your flaps more often.

Hope this helps! Please call 919-680-6803 or email [email protected] if you have more questions!

  5. Q What size would fit a 17.5” all purpose type saddle ? answer now
A Generally, the 17.5 will work on the medium but some saddle have a longer panel and should move into the large. The spine medium is 18.25″ spine between the rolls. If your panel is larger than this select the large pad.

Medium is the size typically recommended for 17" saddles. You can check the measurements of the pad in the sizing tab to be certain it will be a good fit for your saddle.

Hi.  Historically we do not see issues with the ThinLine sheepskin half pad moving.  Our saddle fitters report this is typically because the saddle is too wide.  You could add a set of ThinLine shims to your pad to take up the extra space or try a thicker pad underneath.  Let us know how this goes.

  10. Would a medium be a good fit for a 17.5" jump saddle?
  11. Q Would a medium be a good fit for a 17.5" jump saddle? answer now
    A

Typically a medium is what you would use, but some panels are bigger, so your best bet would be to measure your saddle from pommel to cantle and use the sizing chart in the sizing tab.

  12. What size saddle will the small fit up to? For example, 16", 16.5", etc.
  13. Q What size saddle will the small fit up to? For example, 16", 16.5", etc. answer now
A The small will fit up to a 16.5 inch saddle. At 17 move to a medium.
